About iPhly

iPhly is an R/C system for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It consists of two elements: the application which you are looking at, and a hardware plugin. The two elements communicate through audio. You need to plug the hardware into your phone's (or pod's) audio jack.

You can buy the hardware, or you can build your own. Details about both options appear at www.iphly.org.

User Manual

  1. Put iPhone into Airplane Mode (This is a special mode that Apple builds into iPhone for flying R/C models... If you don't use it, incoming calls shoot you down).
  2. Plug the audio cable into headphone jack.
  3. Start the app.
  4. Power up the RF module (in this order--some modules need to hear valid PPM when they come up).
  5. Power up the receiver.
  6. Hold the phone horizontally.
  7. Tilt the phone right and left for aileron.
  8. Tilt the phone back and forth for elevator.
  9. Swipe up on the attitude indicator to increase throttle.
  10. Swipe left or right to move the rudder.
